The following projects were awarded grants
in November 2009
No. 2478: This was an application from Our Lady of Consolation Girls
Secondary School, Jalingo, Nigeria for the roofing and furnishing
of a block of three classrooms. A once off grant of €10,000 was
approved.
No. 2488: The sum of €4500 was approved for “Tools for
Solidarity” Downpatrick for support and training in Colleges in the
Kabale District of Western Uganda.
No. 2489: A grant of €9,540 was approved for the “Nepal Leprosy
Trust” for the strengthening of Laboratory Services at Lalgadh Leprosy
Centre, Nepal through the provision of vital laboratory equipment.
No. 2493: An application for the provision of a two classroom school at
Hingerno, Khipro, Sindh, Pakistan was approved for a grant of
€7,500.
No. 2495: A sum of €9,000 for re-enforcement funding to complete
a school project at Niahun Village, Southern Sierra Leone was
approved.
No. 2496: A grant of €6,000 was approved for the provision of
furniture at a Socio – Educational Centre at Addanki, Prakasam DT,
India
No. 2499: €8,000 was approved for the construction of eight wells
to provide water for St. Mary’s Secondary school (currently under
construction adjacent to the primary school) at Papiri, Niger State,
Nigeria. Niger State is very isolated from other parts of Nigeria.
There is a great need for this secondary school as there are currently
only three other secondary schools in this entire area.

No. 2501: The sum of €9,674 was approved for the Bashenet Health
Centre, Babati, Manyara, Tanzania for a Hospital Development
Project.
No.2502: €5,100 was granted to the Bauleni Street Kids Project,
Lusaka, Zambia to provide education and skills training to 740
orphans, vulnerable children and children with special needs.
No. 2503: €10,000 was awarded to Christ the King Dispensary,
Mbeya, Tanzania for a Rainfall Harvesting System
No. 2507: An application for a grant of €10,000 for wall fencing
around the proposed new Serenity Centre, Rehabilitation Home for
Alcoholics and Other Substance Dependents in Kampala, Uganda was
approved.
