Project - Overhead Water Storage Tank -
St. Jude Primary School, Kakooge, Luweero, Uganda
In November 2012 the Fund approved a sum of
€5,000 for the provision of a Water Tank for St. Jude Primary School and
the local community at Kakooge, Luweero, Uganda.
The school is a new bush school opened up
to cater for the educational needs of rural children and to promote
development in this economically distressed area. Most of the children
fall between the ages of 6 and 14 years.
the area is still recovering from the
effects of the civil war which lasted for six years in the early
eighties leaving many people dead, thousands displaced, property and
schools destroyed.
The school is meant to be a centre to meet
people's needs in education, reconciliation, mobilisation and
development programs. The population is mostly peasantry and were unable
to raise the funds for the purchase and installation of the water tank.
The project was implemented during 2013
and a completion report received by the Fund.
